Babak Motamedi engaged in a bait-and-switch tactic with my loan.

In September, after agreeing to specific terms with Babak, I committed to close my mortgage deal with him. I was assured that my rate was finalized, but Babak never locked it in. As my closing date approached, I was hit with an unexpected 0.75% rate increase, along with a reduced credit for fees. In September, after agreeing to specific terms with Babak, I committed to close my mortgage deal with him. I was assured that my rate was finalized, but Babak never locked it in. As my closing date approached, I was hit with an unexpected 0.75% rate increase, along with a reduced credit for fees. When I asked Babak to at least lower the rate by 0.25%, he instead added a 0.25% discount point **at my expense**.

If you’re reading this, I strongly advise you not to trust Babak’s promises. And if you've already found yourself in a similar situation, consider filing a complaint with the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) and the Better Business Bureau (BBB).Read MoreRead Less
