Things were going well when I was going to close with RocketMortgage. Christopher was quick to respond and very helpful. When another competitor had better rates and I decided to withdraw my loan, then things changed. Initially, he told me that if the loan didn't go through, then I would be my "good faith deposit" back in full. After I told him that I would choosing a different lender,Accelerate ...Things were going well when I was going to close with RocketMortgage. Christopher was quick to respond and very helpful. When another competitor had better rates and I decided to withdraw my loan, then things changed. Initially, he told me that if the loan didn't go through, then I would be my "good faith deposit" back in full. After I told him that I would choosing a different lender,Accelerate Mortgage, then I was told "However, you will just get a reversal refund of the good faith deposit minus the actual costs of the appraisal and the credit reporting fee as per the deposit agreement." The key lesson here is two fold: First, READ the documents to verify Christopher is telling you the truth. Second, keep shopping around.
