EMU has welcomed me as a freshmen with open arms. The students here are great and are open to helping each other in anyway possible. When I first came to campus I was really worried about what I was going to be able to eat (I am allergic to Gluten), however the dining staff and the chefs on campus have been spectacular about feeding me plenty of great-tasting, gluten-free food.

Eastern has become my home away from home. I never imagined the amount of growth that could happen throughout 4 years at a college that provides so many opportunities to grow. Whether through friendship, leadership roles, volunteer opportunities or just dealing with the obstacles of time management Eastern has helped shape me into someone I'm truly proud of. SWOOP SWOOP!

I knew from the first tour that I went on that EMU was home! Every person I encountered was welcoming and kind. Being a part of the Honor's College also makes me feel a stronger sense of community that I'm sure is unmatched anywhere else.

The academics are fantastic, with wonderful professors who I communicate with frequently and can always feel welcomed, whether I'm coming with questions, want more info, or just want to chat about something related to their field. In terms of student organizations, there are organizations for just about everything! I've been a part of 12 already, and have been on 4 Executive Boards, including the President of the Biological Honor Society and Vice President of the Pre-Med Club. And the organizations can lead to very cool events, which boost the social aspect here at EMU. For example, just a few weeks ago, I attended the Hansori Korean Drum Concert, hosted by our Hansori Student Org, with a friend, and absolutely loved it. I saw several old friends, and met some new ones just in the time that we were there. Overall, I'd say Eastern Michigan has given me all of the tools to be successful in my future, hopefully preparing me for Med School, and has provided me with new insights on many topics. I am very happy with my decision to attend EMU, and look forward to what new challenges and successes I will have over my next two years here.Read MoreRead Less

Eastern Michigan University was the last college on my mind when it came to picking where I wanted to spend my years as a college student, but here I am. Without a doubt, I wouldn't take anything back from that decision, whereas EMU has changed my life for the better. I have been able to participate in so many organizations and leadership roles such as becoming a Resident Advisor, joining Active Minds, a suicide prevention/ mental illness aware program, playing on the EMU Men's Club Volleyball team, and lastly, but certainly not least, rushing Sigma Nu and now holding the position as Recruitment Chairman. If that was all that made me happy about my decision in coming to EMU, I would be lying. The small classroom size, the interactions with professors and advisors, but most importantly, the feeling of my home away from home and life long friends I have made here justify every doubt I ever had in EMU."Read MoreRead Less

Eastern Michigan University was a letter in a stack of mail when I was a Junior in high school searching for where to spend the next 4-6-possibly 8 years of my life. Now that I am a senior at EMU, I can say without a doubt that attending in part defines who I am as a human being. I will be graduating in April with a big block E not solely because of my hard work, but in part due to the support of the wonderful students and faculty here. I am thankful for the opportunities that EMU has provided for me, and I look forward to being able to proudly exclaim that I am an alumnus of a great academic institution: Eastern Michigan University.Read MoreRead Less

When I first decided to come to EMU I had no idea what to expect. I was pleasantly surprised, the school has been so welcoming to me and provides me with opportunities I would not have had otherwise. I truly feel that my opinion is valued and I know I can come to my professors for help if I ever needed it. Eastern Michigan University has changed my life, I came into this university a very different person from who I am now, being at this university has helped me develop into the person I have always wanted to be. I am extremely proud of my time here at Eastern Michigan and I could not have imagined a better experience than the one that I have received! Read MoreRead Less

As a transfer student who first experienced college at Wayne State University I believed college to be the most awful experience and that it was nothing except a big party where people didn't care about education. I soon left Wayne State and attended Macomb and from there transferred to EMU. Since transferring I learned that there are students whom care about their education. Professors at EMU take the opportunity to get to learn their students and make a connection. They are their all the way, especially in the amazing public relations program. I love Regina and Lolita and they want to make sure students succeed and are equipped with the tools needed to survive a career in public relations. By attending EMU I feel like we truly have an advantage in the PR Program, because we are the only university in the state of Michigan that has an official program, while others have to settled for a concentration.

The campus at EMU is amazing and peaceful. There are lots of activities and clubs to be a part of. EMU is a wonderful school overall and I would recommend it to everyone.

Last year as a freshman, I was able to take part in a mentor/mentee relationship with the owner of major Detroit-based company; whom I now how the pleasure of interning with. You don't get that sort of individual attention and opportunity from any university. At EMU, we are so close to wherever we want to go in southeast Michigan, and there is so much right here in Ypsilanti! The initial draw to come to Eastern was the fact that the college of business is right in the heart of downtown Ypsilanti, leaving the opportunity to go to class, and venture out and meet local business owners-while being "on campus" off campus! I'm proud to say that the Dean of the College of Business knows me by name-another thing you don't get from any university. The one on one individual attention here is unreal! Here you have this individuality and ability to interact with the people around you, while being enrolled at a major division one university. There's small class sizes, plenty of resources and opportunities, and we're home to one of the best student centers, library, and business programs in the nation. Aside from being home to Eastern, Ypsilanti itself is a great place to live. There's Downtown, Depot Town, and on Saturday Mornings-Tailgate Town. There's so much to do and see here, that it makes for the perfect college experience.Read MoreRead Less
