I was not seeking any financial assistance when I answered Mandy Troyer’s phone call. I had just initiated a transfer of a large credit card balance to a new card offering 0% interest for 14 months. Personal debt had increased to $34 thousand over the last 2 years due to my wife’s 3 hospitalizations and my work time reduced to provide care.

I normally would brush off such calls, but not this time,...I was not seeking any financial assistance when I answered Mandy Troyer’s phone call. I had just initiated a transfer of a large credit card balance to a new card offering 0% interest for 14 months. Personal debt had increased to $34 thousand over the last 2 years due to my wife’s 3 hospitalizations and my work time reduced to provide care.

I normally would brush off such calls, but not this time, Mandy knew the terms of my existing Rocket Mortgage mortgage and current debt level, was very pleasant and interested in knowing my objectives. I had resigned myself to just grind the debt down over time, but high interest was making it a difficult process. Mandy listened and called back with a compelling solution that eliminated the debt and freed nearly $1 thousand of cash each month.
