We spent some time shopping around for a lender, and when we got to Rick, we stopped. Rick was excellent on seeing us from beginning o end. On another note, there was a little hiccup with our real estate agent and the closing team; Rick dropped everything, went through the contract with a fine toothed comb, and fixed the little details before moving forward. He is courteous, kind, and efficient.

I don't want to bore readers, so I tried to sum up my opinions and experiences with Rick within the first paragraph for those wanting a quick read.

For many of us buying a home can be an extraordinary stressful and emotional process. I feel very fortunate my home purchasing experience crossed paths with a genuine, professional and knowledgable person whom never made me feel as though I’m just another number or dollar sign in the pipeline. I truly value a persons integrity and I was very pleased to see that Rick is a man of integrity as he was honest, upfront, understanding and patient. I actually felt as though I was his only client as I always had the support I needed, and then some. I sent my fair share of emails and phone calls and was more than likely a pain at times, but no matter how mundane some of my questions must have been, each was answered quickly and with detailed answers I could understand. I don’t know how he does it. I can’t imagine how busy he must be, yet he always maintained his professionalism and always treated me dignity and respect.

Now for my story - I accepted a job transfer, had relocated, was living in short term temporary quarters and working at my new location. My household goods had been shipped here and were here in temporary storage, the seller of this home had their household goods shipped to their new out of state location with plans to start building a new home. Everything was going so well and I was truly ecstatic of my new life here.

About two weeks prior to closing, an unknown credit issue from the past popped up which prevented me from obtaining either a conventional loan or an FHA loan. I then learned I would be eligible for a home loan five months from now since the unknown credit issue I had was on a time clock and required a 4 year waiting period before I would be eligible for a home loan. At the end of the day, I didn’t have five months and was going to lose this house as the market here is very strong and homes sell very quickly.

My world immediately crashed and I was devastated, confused and ashamed. Aside from becoming pretty much instantly homeless after my temp quarters lease expires in a couple weeks, I was even more concerned of the havoc I just caused for the sellers as I just ruined everything for them. Words can’t express how terrible I felt.

Rick and I spoke at length numerous times over the next couple days and he was still in my corner. Rick told me, "we wont go down without a fight"; and fight for me he did. Rick reached out to two divisional VP's and would get back to me as soon as he hears back from them. After bitting my nails off while waiting, Rick called and came back with a plan. I was approved for an “in house” type of loan with a bit higher interest rate. Rick’s game plan was that he could get me into the home I wanted now and advised the higher interest rate would only be temporary. In five moths I will have satisfied the four year waiting period from my previous credit issue and after the timeline passes, Rick offered assistance with refinancing into a new home loan with the then current competitive interest rates.

Thank you Rick, I wouldn’t be sitting in this home writing this review if it weren’t for you!

I was amazed at how “quick” Rocket Mortgage can close on a loan (no pun intended). Even with the snafu we ran into, we still managed to close on the same day originally anticipated had it not happened. Even post credit issue, neither my realtor nor the seller thought it possible to close as quickly as it did as I was purchasing a home on an island in Alaska (where things take time due to resources), yet it happened just as Rick anticipated.

I have to give a big shout out and thank you to Rick’s team too. The people working behind the scenes are a vital and essential part of the loan process; and to work with a team that was on top of their game while being helpful, responsive and kind was the icing on the cake!

Thanks to everyone at Rocket Mortgage whom helped me get through this battle and into this beautiful home, you guys Rock!

I wrote him on a Friday evening panicked about making sure I met a deadline, he returned the email with a personal phone call- all to put me at ease before the weekend.
