To start at the beginning, I literally called Rocket Mortgage to see what my options were and was quickly connected with Kacey. I am a numbers guy (as Kacey will validate) and as such, I had questions. Our first call was 2 hours and 5 minutes. When I called, I had budgeted 15 minutes and did not expect to get what I was asking for. In fact, I fully expected to get the runaround. I am a numbers guy (as Kacey will validate) and as such, I had questions. Our first call was 2 hours and 5 minutes. When I called, I had budgeted 15 minutes and did not expect to get what I was asking for. In fact, I fully expected to get the runaround. I had questions that I knew the answers to and asked them to validate the rest of the information. We covered that in the first 15-20 minutes and I quickly warmed up to her. I am a “in-person” customer and generally work off of handshakes. (Old School). Kacey somehow, and I still cannot believe she did it, kept me on the phone and interested to the point that by the time we were done, I had made a $500 good faith deposit, completed the application process AND she stayed on the phone with me until I was logged into the Rocket APP. (All of this done from my vehicle, I was not even at home and had no intention of even taking notes.) Bottom line is she was the reason I completed the application.
She gave my wife and I a few more things we had to do and I promised her they would be done by the next morning and they were. She followed up to let me know all was well and that she had all she needed and to not expect much communications for the next week to ten days. Sure enough, she called back with updates about that time.
To complicate things more, I am an airline pilot which means I am not home and not available very often. We figured out texting and email was our friend. She was good about following up and and keeping me informed.
Now, there is what some would call negative, meaning that June the 9th was our first call, and we had hoped to close by July 6th. That did not happen, in fact, we were rolling up on the end of the lock in date for interest, the 24th of July. I was getting very anxious and in the past, that makes me not the nicest person. Kacey was someone I was not going to my old self with, so I explained my concerns. She did not have answers, however, she told me she would get them and by the end of the day, I received another phone call with answers and updates.
Kacey had found answers to all but one question and we realized that my wife’s employment was the hold up. I quickly had my wife to get what Kacey needed and we were able to get the loan moving forward again. I told her that August the 7th was our closing date, and if there is anything I need to do to make that happen, I will.
Once again, she stepped up, I am not sure exactly what she did but I feel confident she was directly involved with getting all the necessary information to move the loan to closing. I received a call from the closing team on August 6th to schedule it.
The closing team was super helpful and did a great job but did not think they could get the closing done on the 7th of August (the next day). I did apply a fair amount of pressure and at 11:30 AM, we met with our closing agent and closed in about 45 minutes.
As I have told the story, one could think I am not happy, nor would I recommend Rocket Mortgage. Absolutely not the case and here is why:
1. Kacey kept me informed as thing progressed and regressed. (No Excuses) 2. Kacey kept a very good attitude and was very understanding with my frustration. She remained extremely professional.
3. Kacey did not quit on me, she worked with all her resources available.
4. She met the deadline and did it with 100% professionalism.
Lastly, if this loan would have gone the other way, you would still be getting a letter. I believe when someone steps up, faces the challenge head on, (not to common) it is worth taking the time to recognize the results. Not only will I recommend Rocket Mortgage, I have a contact name and direct number to Kacey that will be given out. I like someone who faces the challenge and gets results. Kacey Did!
