We struggled with Brandon's communication style.
At first he was quite helpful and responsive, then it became a bit terse.
He texted that he needed a call with us one afternoon, said it would be about 15 min to run through some questions. We called at the agreed upon time, he was not prepared and asked if he could call us back in 10 min. We're not going to wait in a hot car in AZ in the afternoon for a phone call to go through the standard questions needed by the lender on a Friday afternoon.
Later on in our processing while reviewing the lender documents, the portion of Borrower brings to Close also included finalizing the payment of my car loan. Brandon had lumped the pay off of my car loan into the home loan without discussing it with us. When I called to ask about it, he did remove it but did not explain why it had been added in the first place when that was not a discussion.
The final poor experience with Brandon was one evening around 6:30pm we received a text that the next time the Senior Mortgage broker calls that we need to answer or we risk losing the loan. Along with Brandon, the title agent, the title agent assistant, the realtor, the realtor assistant, the Senior loan agent was now the 6th person calling us in less than 5 days.
The broker had called me at 5:43pm then my fiancee at 5:44pm. This is after business hours, and they were right, we did not answer the phone. We had completed the task in our Rocket Portal that she had left a voicemail about earlier in the day. After receiving Brandon's text, he then also texted our Realtor who texted us at 6:45pm about contacting the lender for the same reason.
The repeated check-ins in such a short period of time when we had clearly been completing our part of the submission of documents and task in the portal then the fear mongering that we'd lose the loan due to lack of communication between Brandon, the Senior Lender, and realtor, made for a very stressful evening.
While the Rocket Mortgage portal is helpful, a timeline of what to expect and when things need to be submitted, as well as a full list of who to expect contact from at the start of the process would be a lot more helpful than several contacts in such short periods of time.
