I was not aware in advance that there was an issue with my debt to loan ratio. I was going to pay off a home improvement credit card balance with this loan. To adjust the ratio, Rocket Mortgage applied funds that were being dispersed ($45,000 minimum) to my home mortage - reducing my 4% mortgate by $5,000 and adding that to my new loan at 8.5%. If they wanted to reduce the ratio, they should have ...I was not aware in advance that there was an issue with my debt to loan ratio. To adjust the ratio, Rocket Mortgage applied funds that were being dispersed ($45,000 minimum) to my home mortage - reducing my 4% mortgate by $5,000 and adding that to my new loan at 8.5%. If they wanted to reduce the ratio, they should have contacted me prior to closing asking what debt I would like to apply that to - not just selecting my lowest interest rate debt.
