That ...Last fall, in an attempt to consolidate our debt, lower our interest rate and lower our monthly out-go, I did something I never did - I made contact with an agent at Rocket Mortgage, online. That agent was Jake Cerqua.
Just prior to that we had been in a lengthy, drawnout process with our own bank that was so convoluted it was ridiculous. This bank had all our banking accounts and we had been good customers for over 8 years. Our credit was good, we never “bounced checks” and paid all of our bills on time. Yet, because our debt ratio was high (remember, our goal was consolidate and pay off our credit cards!), our own bank gave us the run around for months, requesting documentation we had already provided, double requesting proof of income, etc., until we just felt it wasn’t worth the stress. We stopped that application.
So I turned to Rocket Mortgage and met Jake Cerqua. He could NOT have been more helpful. As we had just been going through the process, I had all required documentation in hand.
From my initial contact with Jake to the day we closed, Jake made it the easiest process I’ve ever been through with a refinancing. And with no glitches, from start to closing, it took about 3 weeks!!
Due to circumstances beyond our control, we had an FHA mortgage which requires mortgage insurance. Jake explained in terms anyone could understand that the new loan would need to be FHA also, however, after about 4 months, he would be able to convert to a conventional loan. He made a note to himself to contact us at the right time.
Now we are in March. As promised, Jake contacted us, started the process of doing the conversion, and this time around from start to closing was about 10 days. Yes, days! Not months or years!! Days!!
Due to our circumstances, Jake also made it possible for all closing costs be rolled into the loan(s), so we had no out of pocket expenses.
Jake was hands-on every step of the way. Not once did he ever make us we were imposing if I had any questions. He was always so prompt in responding to me.
Best of all, Jake made us feel so taken care of in all the best ways possible. He truly made us feel our financial needs and reducing our debt stress came first.
I can’t say enough about Jake Cerqua and Rocket Mortgage (as well as Rocket Loans).
A little background about how we had such debt. I’ve been in our home for 39 years. In those years there was major remodeling, divorce, you name it, I went through it. My husband and I both have health issues requiring many medications. With all the above being said, both as a single parent for many years and now married 15 years, I have gone through at least 6-8 refinancings. We, unfortunately, were among those caught up in the Lehman Bros/Bank of America scandal. We were more fortunate than so many other people. We didn’t lose our home. We were under water for years with the value of our home vs the then mortgage. It was virtually impossible to try to either sell our home or refinance. We’re retired, on a fixed income and it was a struggle for many years. By the time we were able to do our first post-Lehman/Bank of America refinancing, the only way we could was through Bank of America and an FHA loan. Not our first choice.
With Jake’s help, we’ve been able to consolidate and pay off our credit card debt, lower our interest rate, lower our monthly mortgage payment, improve our credit rating, and see the value of our home increase over $30K within just four months.
Jake could not have been more helpful, honest, trustworthy and caring throughout both of the refinancings. He’s truly more interested in what and how he can do the best for his clients than anything else.
So many thanks to Jake Cerqua and all the help he had given us. Not only did he accomplish everything I’ve said above but in doing so, has vastly improved our quality of life with so much less stress around money.
I guarantee in the future, if we ever sell our home to downsize, Jake will be the first person we will contact. In all my years of banking and dealing with mortgages, I can’t recall any agents that put our needs to be in better financial shape ahead of whatever institutions agenda we were trying to work with.
